It's not the most picturesque place in the Fens. It's just a land drain, beside a road, that a few people from the village and sometimes further afield fish. But they and the twitchers who come to wet a line or watch the owls that hunt its banks value it all the same - along with those who live alongside it and the neighbouring lode.
For some reason, it's also a magnet for fly tippers. Like the latest community-spirited individual who thinks our riverbanks are dustbins. Thanks for looking after it, whoever you are.
